The giant, Google, is about to become a new mobile operator according to NBCnews.com.
The company´s plans are not to make a big scale project, but to keep is small. They want to show other mobile operators how they want the coverage of the network to be done. Their plans are not to compete with other operators, but rather to show them the way.
Google won´t give any specific details about what they are up to, but according to Sundar Pichai, Google’s Android chief, who was speaking at Mobile World Congress, they are working with “some partners” on the project meaning that Google won’t have to build costly infrastructure because they allow Google to essentially rent capacity.
“I think we’re at the stage where we need to think of hardware, software, and connectivity together,” Pichai said. “We don’t intend to be a carrier at scale, and we’re working with existing partners. You’ll see some of our ideas come to fruition in the next few months.”
