The app, Secret, is closing down because it did not represent the vision which the co-founder of the company had when he starting the company and the app.
Secret is a social sharing app that makes it possible for anonymous users to post their content without letting anyone know who they are.
As well the the co-fouder tells it can be dangerous to let people tell what they mean without letting others know who they are:
“I believe in honest, open communication and creative expression, and anonymity is a great device to achieve it,” wrote Byttow. “But it’s also the ultimate double-edged sword, which must be wielded with great respect and care.”
Byttow said he plans to write up what went wrong and how over the next few weeks at the Secret blog.
The investors who invested in the company will have their money returned.
